Marian Zazeela created posters for most of La Monte Young's concerts since 1962 and for Pandit Pran Nath's New York City performances since 1970. "In 1981, one could have picked up an Artforum and seen a two-page spread announcing concerts at Harrison St. The graphic was in Zazeela's instantly recognizable, delicate and starry style-announcing concerts that one knew would be performed with her lighting, and with her mobiles overhead. Zazeela's and Young's practice was one of the pillars of the scene, bringing you back to a sensibility that could be found nowhere else." -Henry Flynt, from Marian Zazeela-Forty Years in Marian Zazeela, Drawings, Kunst im Regenbogenstadl, Polling, 2000. |
